House Budget Includes $30 Million for Promise Neighborhoods!
Late last night, the House Appropriations Committee released the continuing resolution for FY 2011, which will fund the government until September 30, 2011. The budget resolution includes $30 million for Promise Neighborhoods, which represents a three-fold increase from FY 2010. The Promise Neighborhoods Institute at PolicyLink applauds Congress and the Obama administration for expanding funding for this program during these tough fiscal times.
Communities across the country are doing exciting work to create Promise Neighborhoods, including 21 communities who received planning grants last year, and dozens of other neighborhoods ready to compete for planning and implementation dollars. This $30 million is a crucial investment in our communities and our children.
We expect the House and Senate to vote on the final FY 2011 budget resolution later this week.
